Building life skills is essential for success in our world today. Skills like communication, time management, problem-solving, critical thinking, adaptability, and overall resilience can help you overcome obstacles and reach your goals! The life skill I want to focus on this year is managing stress and improving my sleep. Having consistently good sleep habits helps me reduce stress, boost my focus, and it just improves my overall well-being, which leads to better performance in school and life. For this video here, we were asked for our name, age, grade, and the life skill we plan to improve before graduation!

Hi, my name is Kahlil Rishwain. I'm 18 years old and in the 12th grade.

One life skill I am confident in is cooking. I've learned how to cook a wide variety of foods, from simple meals like eggs to more complex ones like chicken tikka masala. Cooking is not only fun, but it also gives me independence and allows me to make healthy choices for myself!

One life skill I want to improve before graduation is managing stress and sleep. These two go hand in hand because when you don't sleep well, your stress levels go up, and when you're stressed, it's harder to get good sleep.

Improving this skill will pay dividends with me because when I sleep well and stress less, it leads me to a variety of benefits like improved focus, energy, and mental well-being.

By mastering the art of regulating my stress and sleep, I'll be able to handle busy or overwhelming situations when college rolls around.

The one step I plan on taking this semester is to set a consistent sleep and wake time. By doing so, hopefully, I see more of a balance in my mind and body, allowing me to show up at school as my best self.
